2009 Bostwick Lake Triathlon

This is a great first Tri. A beach start, an out-and-back bike course on gently rolling hills and a quick lap around the lake. This quick route takes you on a .4 mile swim, 14 mile bike and 3 mile run around Bostwick Lake.

Race time was 8 am on July 4th.  Weatherman had predicted sunny and 70′s on race day, it ended up being cloudy and 60′s. Even sprinkled a few times. Actually pretty good weather for the race.

First Place in the women’s division was # 75 Tarra Miedema with a time of  1:10:50. First place in men’s division was #95 David Daprato with a time of 1:05:39.

We had a few relatives participating as well. Our sister Ashley placed 9th in the women’s division with a time of 1:23:11. Brother in-law Andy finished 7th in men’s division with a time of 1:10:46, Ian came in 21st with a time of  1:16:24 and Dad came in last in the men’s division with a time of 2:08:54. Dad is 62 1/2 years old. This was the first time he had attempted anything like this and we are all so proud of him for finishing. Congratulation to the winners and everyone who participated.

What a fun time. We really enjoyed watching the top athletes as well as the novices.
